‹Fear Eats the Soul(Angst Essen Seele Auf))
Wash project began in Germany in 2015. Born and raised in South Korea, a divided country, the artist become aware of how much she had adapted to the daily threat of war and how great the anxiety caused by national confrontation is inherent in her. Seeking to wash away this anxiety, the artist with an identity as a migrant, relates with others who have experienced a history of war, the Cold War, and the division in Germany, and shares others’ anxiety as a ritual performance through washing.

처음의 〈빨래 프로젝트>는 2015년 독일에서 시작되었다. 작가는 분단국가인 남한에서 태어나고 자라면서 자신이 얼마만큼 일상적인 전쟁 위협에 적응해왔고, 국가적 대립으로 인한 불안이 얼마만큼 자신에게 내재 되었는지를 인지하게 되었다. 이러한 불안을 씻어내고자 했던 작가는 이주자로서의 정체성을 지닌 채, 독일에서 전쟁과 냉전, 분단의 역사를 경험한 타인들과 관계 맺고, 그 과정을 통해 서로의 불안을 나누는 제의적 퍼포먼스인 빨래를 시도한다

Violence between the modern states is discriminatory. The elderly, children, and women, in particular, are the ones who are exposed the most to violence. Since the War in Ukraine began, the Russian women who have emigrated to South Korea are the ones who have to perform the work of caregiving even in difficult circumstances. In Fear Eats the Soul(Angst Essen Seele Auf), the artist talks about her anxiety as a woman and as a migrant who is unable to settle down with them, and seeks to follow the trajectory of the lives of individuals whose lives are bound to be constantly shaken.

현대의 국가와 국가 간의 폭력은 차별적으로 가해진다. 노인, 어린이, 여성은 특히 그 속에서 가장 많은 폭력에 노출되는 대상이기도 하다.
우크라이나 전쟁 이후 한국으로 이주해온 구소련국가의 여성들은 어려운 상황에서도 돌봄 노동을 해내야 하는 주체이다. 이 작품은 이들과 함께 정주하지 못하는 이주자이자 여성으로서의 불안을 이야기하며, 끊임없이 흔들릴 수밖에 없는 개인들의 삶의 궤적을 따라가고자 했다.
