<lines of names>는 바다에서 일어난 두 개의 재난에 대해 이야기하고 있다. 작가는 2014년 4월 16일에 벌어진 ‘세월호참사’와 2007년에 12월 7일에 일어난 ‘태안원유유출참사’(삼성1호-허베이 스피릿 호 원유 유출 사고)의 시간을 기억하는 인간과 비인간들의 이야기을 추적하며, 재난으로 인해 사라진 존재들의 이름들을 이루고 있는 선들을 그려낸다. 즉 이 작품에는 증인이자 목격자로서의 인간과 비인간들이 등장한다. 이 작품은 슬픔을 외면하지 않고 슬퍼하기를 멈추지 않을 때, 슬픔에 잠식되지 않을 수 있다는 아이러니를 드러낸다. 사라진 존재들의 이름들을 눈으로만 보는 것뿐만 아니라, 선으로 이루어진 이름들의 글자가 사람의 눈으로 통해 뇌로 전달되고 그 이름들이 몸 안에서 호흡 되고 다시 성대의 근육과 입을 통해 호명되어야만 재난으로 인해 희생된 인간과 비인간들을 기억하는 행위가 시작될 수 있음을 보여준다.

<Lines of Names> tells the story of two disasters at sea. Eunbi traces the stories of humans and non-humans who remember the time of the ‘SEWOL ferry sinking disaster’ on April 16, 2014 and the ‘TAEAN oil spill’(Samsung No.1 – Hebei Spirit oil spill) on December 7, 2007, and draws lines that form the names of the beings lost in the disasters. In other words, the work features humans and non-humans as witnesses. The work reveals the irony that only by not turning away from grief and never stopping to grieve can we avoid being consumed by it. This work shows that the act of remembering the human and non-human victims of the disaster can only begin when the letters of the names are transmitted to the brain through the human eye, breathed into the body, and recited through the muscles of the vocal cords and the mouth.
